The image is a screenshot of a letter in today’s Times and says: Sir, The findings of the Women and Equalities Committee highlight a systemic failure to prioritise women’s health (“NHS delays and ‘medical misogyny’ blamed for harming women’s fertility”, Dec 11). Stigma, the normalisation of pain, and inadequate training across the healthcare workforce—not just for doctors—are leaving women and girls without the understanding or strategies needed to manage pain and pelvic health conditions. This failure has far-reaching consequences, impacting service provision, education, careers, and relationships, while leading to more complex and costly treatments over time. The screenshot is the second part of the letter and says: It is clear that systemic changes are needed, and training physiotherapists, nurses, and GPs to recognise and manage pelvic health conditions is critical. Integrating pelvic health specialists into primary care, supported by ringfenced funding for education and research, would help break the cycle of dismissal and delayed care and transform outcomes for women and girls. The image is a screenshot of my submission to the NHS Change website and says: Back pain is a leading cause of sickness absence and the reason for millions of GP appointments each year. Public information campaigns overseas helped keep people in work, eased pressures on healthcare systems and enabled people to lead active, pain-free lives. A national multi-channel campaign could achieve the same for the UK, reducing the costs of back pain to the NHS and wider economy, and delivering on the government's commitment to the prevention agenda.
