Interesting to see prefabricated straw panels /homes with a reduced timber content which still utilize the common HD straw bale format. Because it's a production challenge to get the straw density right between the ladder type frame.

Was interviewed today about microcredentials. To me, we do not have just a climate crisis, we have an experience crisis.
What we need is literally a marshall plan that unlocks a hands-on revolution for the coming renovation wave.

Friends and family of the Baugruppe helping to insulate the 6-family home in 1 day with local secondary materials from food agriculture. I never see this on non-climate conscious construction sites?

Ok Ok 🍿, bundled #hemp stalks as load bearing elements in #hempcrete walls compared to timber (hempcrete needs additional structure). It seems as if academia has finally woken up. Good work guys. Now onto replacing the lime, please. #rapidlyrenewablematerials #bicrs

Natural fiber insulation allows moisture transport in the right assembly. If you control the other variables like rising damp and other failure points of existing buildings, you may have dryer walls with insulation than without.

Straw wrapping for Landhotel Yspertal.
Good example that you don't have to use a whole straw bale (~36cm) sometimes. You can build with 'flakes', but you want to stay at a raw density of around 100kg/m3.

The thing nearly all media commentators have missed (because nobody knows nothin’ about energy in media) is that Venezuela has a lot of oil alright, but it’s heavy sour, hard to produce, hard to refine, and hard to transport, requiring:
• Conventional drilling + artificial lift
• Diluent […]

The first renewable day!

With solar, wind and battery installations ramping rapidly, it won't be long before we see a town or region or perhaps even a country, run on 100% renewables for a 24 hour period.

In tihs blog post I look at isolated examples of towns or regions hitting 100% renewables […]
