It’s been a long, hard year, but there’s still things to be thankful for: my wonderful lady, my incredible cats, my awesome family, and of course, the Batman (both Absolute and regular flavor).

Also thankful for Liquid Death, just wish it was available in more places.

Finally read the first volume of Absolute Martian Manhunter and man oh man was that some good stuff. Easily the boldest and most “out there” book from the Absolute line, but it also rocks hard.

Downey Wrote That is a great little documentary about one of SNL’s all-time great writers, Jim Downey. Chock full of great behind the scenes moments and clips, it really showcases just how much of a comedic force he is as a writer. Definitely a big recommend for SNL nerds.

Brisk but good

Finally caught Good Boy, and while it’s not the scariest horror movie of the year, it’s definitely the most inventive. This must have been a huge pain to film but in the end it’s very worth it. Creepy vibes but balanced out with Indy, one of the best actors of the year who just happens to be a dog.

I’ve been a fan of Joe Hill’s since 20th Century Ghosts, so I do not say this lightly: King Sorrow may be his best book. An epic and engaging spin on a deal with the devil story (except the devil here is an ancient dragon).

Wicked: For Good is pretty good! Not as good as the first one but I liked it still, mainly cause of how great Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are in the main roles.

Keeper is another weirdo horror movie from Osgood Perkins, and as much as it has all of his hallmarks, it’s probably my least favorite of his stuff. It takes a bit too long to get going, and one of the big aspects of the movie isn’t really explained.

Being Eddie is a fun documentary, but is too short. Murphy’s career is one that could be an entire series (like Michael Jordan’s “The Last Dance”), so having only an 1h 45 minutes to discuss his career leaves so much left on the table. Still a good documentary, but I wanted more

Jurassic World: Rebirth is a much better film than Dominion (a film I actively despise for how much of my time it wasted). As a certified “Lost World Defender”, the fact that it is essentially an adventure movie was great, when it actually focused on that.
