I downloaded Qwen3vI 8b & ran it with ollama on my Mac Mini m4 and it could describe any image in incredible detail. Slow as heck token speed on 24gb m4 tho

Quick prompting and incomplete planning has almost always been the underlying issue when I see these things fail. Sonnet 4.5 alone is good enough for 90% of coding requirements, IMO.

The last 10% requires a top model like Opus 4.5 + careful, knowledgeable human expert + multi-step planning.

The top Android phones have the best tech and an exciting and more open ecosystem. But the Ios/MacOS dev env can be very fun too, and Apple does have HW/SW consistancy that nobody else on earth really achieves, especially Google. You may start to notice how seamless and fast everything is first.

I'm not "IT" but work/code in that silo. I have an iphone and am in the process of PLMing my work Intel-based windows PC for a macbook pro m5 with lots of RAM. I will be coding on this platform with xcode & vscode and frankly it's just as powerful as Android and the ecosystem is open enough IMO.
