If anyone knows what it's like to see your dreams of Olympic gold crumble, it's Kurt Browning. I won't have time to watch until later, but I checked the results and couldn't believe what I was seeing, basically no one finished where I expected.

I was a French immersion student who did a three month exchange to Quebec when I was in grade 10, and I completely agree! Very much a formative experience and improved my French fluency greatly. It's a bit rusty these days, but I can still read and understand at least

Wikipedia’s list of notable alumni for my high school has no one I’ve ever heard of…I did have a friend called James Marsden, but he isn’t the dude who was in X Men

Relive dorm room parties from undergrad, on a larger and classier scale!

I hadn’t opened it yet today until I saw this, just did and I can already tell that half of my guesses are going to get “not in word list”

And yet as a Canadian just up the coast from you, I’d totally call that a chicken burger!

Even worse, when I lived all the way out in White Rock I’d dare to tell people from outside the area that I was from Vancouver, because guess which one they’ve actually heard of?

And at least for the able bodied, not a huge deal if the elevator is down. It’s in the realm of I wouldn’t choose to haul a bag of cat litter up the stairs to the 6th floor, but I can if I need to, while higher up that becomes more of an issue…

It was literally playing as I walked through the door of the party venue

Last year I got Whammed on like Nov. 29 which technically doesn't count, but I didn't really bother playing after that. The perils of working for the Canadian branch of an American company that tends to do the holiday party on Black Friday because it's quiet for us...

The rules I've generally played by are that covers don't count, it has to be the original, but I'd probably put a big asterisk on any win where I heard a cover

I made it out of the bakery unscathed!

I got Whammed in the first week of December, sadly. Still going on Little Drummer Boy, but I’m about to run out to the local bakery to pick up a preorder so fingers crossed!

I visited the Ben Romach distillery last time I was in Scotland, it's definitely worth a visit (and is within easy walking distance of a train station if you don't want to have to drive afterwards!)

Exactly. I’d rather have a transliteration that gets people using the name, even if it isn’t pronounced perfectly. And it might even make more people make the association that indigenous names aren’t something new, there are tons that have been in use for so long no one thinks about it

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of jeans with pockets that could hold a paperback (women’s clothing is a whole other rant), but being able to easily throw a book into a purse is the same idea, and a lot of trade paperbacks are just a bit too big for that

The cycle of Taskmaster 1. Who are these people, there’s no way they’ll be as good as the last lot 2. Omg, I love all of them 3. How is it over already, I don’t want to say goodbye 4. Next cast is announced, who are these people, etc.
