Lol.... oh how I miss those days of being 18-29 and feeling indestructible....
Play soccer with buddies at the park from 9-11pm on a Tuesday, than hit the showers, head to a bar at 12:30 for a nightcap, get home around 2am and still be fine to go to work at 7:30....
Now at 39 that sounds awful

sick, getting over a nasty sinus infection and fever, and trying to get that brain fog feeling out of my head so I can get back to creating and writing
at least i have been able to think through some scene ideas in my mind and voice record them on my phone, but im eager to get back to drafting

This is very true. I think its a good idea for any writer looking to hire an editor to meet with a few to get a feel for the vibes and the relationship before committing to a long term project or a full dev edit for a $$$.

I bought a copy of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children when I was a college student in 2006. It's now gonna be 2026, I still have never read it. I have it sitting on my bookshelf to this day.

I also thought about writing a really short fiction, maybe like 1-2 scenes, under 5k words total, Helena finding some mythical artifact related to the Maccabi resistance against the Greeks.

Oh for sure, I don't doubt anything you said, I just never really thought of exclamation points as associated with positive energy, thats probably a "me" thing... and yes, I have thankfully avoided working in big corporate jobs

Interesting, I often associate it with negatives such as anger, admonishing someone, or aggressive criticism... I don't immediately see the warmth aspect of the exclamation point... good article...
