explanation - I needed the first two items aligned to flex end, and the second to to flex start, but forgot I was passing in a non-zero-indexed id and it was off by one. Flexbox was apparently trying to interpolate align-self. Weird, but interesting.

I would agree with that! I guess I sort of think of words like biodiversity, or the loudness wars - more possibilities are better, more dynamics are better. "Utilize" might help indicate that this is a technical context, and encourage the user to slow down. I avoid it, but am glad it exists? idk

I feel like there's a shade of difference in the meaning - 'use' puts the emphasis what we did, where 'utilize' emphasizes the tool used. If you want to draw attention to a tool, you might use 'utilized' as a subtle indication that the tool was worth noting
