I'm basically working on a whole schwack of items now to get the web target up to speed... And trying to forward port a lot of the optimizations we've done over the last 2 years as well, but a tough slug so far as the engine is much more bloated in 4.X

The vast majority of the effort put into the engine at this point is not related to improving the web target. Imo a bare minimum to maintain the build target, but not enough to deploying seriously, as evidenced by it's current market share compared to other engines that can build/deploy to web

Meanwhile here we are just trying to target web builds, arguably the most 'open' platform and possibly the platform with the most growth potential. But definitely feels the most neglected in #GodotEngine right now. Hopefully as the platform matures that will change.

I think there's probably a path for godot to have free official console ports in the same vein as defold but there are certainly a lot of disincentives there...
