Just chatted with the students who now run my old college news site. Was pretty eye-opening. So much of what I take for granted is "new" to even the most passionate among them. Or when I affirm a belief we share, it's noticeably comforting to them because they've spent 4ish years ingesting uni speak

Couple notes:
1) the callback to visual/audio cues of TV journalism is indicative of a Certain Kind of "Journo" I loathe.
2) Can't be overstated that centrist + conservative writers love to mask their bad takes in comically redundant lists. Why make 1 good point when you can make 8 obfuscatory ones?

TFP ran a single piece on the assassination of two Dem politicians in Minnesota by a right-winger. A few months later, they'd update their site's frontpage to include an entire vertical dedicated to Charlie Kirk.

perhaps the biggest story TFPever ran was a catastrophically shoddy argument that George Floyd ackshully died of an overdose. When confronted with irrefutable evidence that the piece was simply wrong, Weiss didn’t take it down, she asked her critic, @radleybalko.bsky.social, to come on a podcast.

One thing I’d be nice if Schatz and others acknowledged is that even judging their hard right turn on immigration in Spring 2024 on its own terms it failed miserably. In July when Harris took over Trump led on “immigration” by 9pts, by election day he led 13pts. At best it, electorally, did nothing

Really, truly enjoying Hell Is Us on multiple levels. But the choice to limit stamina to how high/low your health is has to bone of the worst design decisions of the year. Makes every fight with 3+ enemies a lost cause unless you're full health, and health packs are quite rare!
