This year's #Hooptober starts late with...*checks notes* The Wizard of Oz? Yes. The Wizard of Oz. I don't make the rules. letterboxd.com/josephlee411...
A ★★★ review of The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Movie #1 for Hooptober: Might as well start with the one that makes the least amount of sense to be on this list. I know the Wicked Witch and the flying monkeys were creepy, but this is hardly horror....

My lukewarm take: Spaceballs should have been renamed Spaceballs: The Movie at some point.

I get the perceived need to out people like this, because their views are horrendous. But they *want* to be outed. They want their grift to reach a wider audience. They have no shame and if they can rope in a few more dummies in exchange for public mockery, that's fine with them.

thought: Sabrina Carpenter is now the most famous person to ever come from the Boy/Girl Meets World franchise

You know you're officially old when you're watching a procedural vote in the House of Representatives on PBS News.

I mean yes, it's a very important one, but still.

People like to say "tRuMp Is YoUr PrEsIdEnT" but if that were true why does he only seem to care about his rich friends?

I've said it before, but I love the way Ellie reacts to the dinos in Jurassic Park. I think it's the most realistic. You bet if a T-Rex was chasing me, I'd also be saying "SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT".

Dominion pretty much killed my love of any new Jurassic stuff. I wish I could get excited about Rebirth but I just can't.

There are still King stories that haven't been told in any format, but sure, let's go back to the well for something that was just adapted five years ago.

Movie #13 for #Junesploitation was Friday the 13th. Since I've seen all those ten times or more, I decided to go with 13 Fanboy instead. I regret my decision.

Movie #11 for #Junesploitation is 90's action, so I watched my first-ever Albert Pyun movie, Nemesis! Cyborgs and explosions are an easy way to get me to like your movie, just saying.
A ★★★½ review of Nemesis (1992)

Movie #10 for #Junesploitation is Jess Franco, who I'm not a fan of. I went with a short action movie with Christopher Lee but not even Lee could save Dark Mission: Flowers of Evil.
A ★ review of Dark Mission: Flowers of Evil (1988)

Movie #9 for #Junesploitation is a free space, so why not check off one of the only Tarantino movies I haven't seen? I'm going with Jackie Brown. letterboxd.com/josephlee411...

Movie #7 for #junesploitation is Kung Fu, so I went with Game of Death. Part Bruce Lee movie, part Brucesploitation movie, it's kind of amazing it's coherent at all given what they had to work with (it came out five years after Lee's death). letterboxd.com/josephlee411... @fthismovie.bsky.social

I really want Danny and Michael Philippou to direct a Pet Sematary movie. Remake it again, I don't care. I think they can capture the dread and depressing grief that King's book has, which no one has been able to put on film.

They might also put the Wendigo in it finally.

Movie #6 for @fthismovie.bsky.social #junesploitation is Giallo. So I had my girlfriend pick the movie to introduce her to that style and she went with Puzzle. It's not very giallo-like, so I'll have to show her Deep Red later so she can really find out.
