An introduction of sorts I suppose!

I wrote this as Israel invaded Lebanon, as genocide raged on in Gaza.

Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, love.

For this is personal, & always has been personal, from Beirut to Gaza, Rafah to Sour, & to Nablus & Jenin. These are our friends, our loved ones, our colleagues. www.instagram.com/p/DAtL_w0CpT...

Denying entry to British MPs shows how far Israel will go to cover up what is happening in the West Bank.

See Caabu's press release on Israel's denial of entry to Dr Simon Opher MP @simonforstroud.bsky.social and Dr @peterprinsleymp.bsky.social on a Caabu delegation.

Israeli apartheid against Palestinians in death as in life, as occupation forces are still holding the body of our friend, Awdah Hathaleen, preventing the community from burying him.

Yet his murderer has freely returned to terrorise Umm al-Khair today

Our condolences to the family and loved ones of Awdah Hathaleen, brutally murdered by an Israeli settler in his village of Umm al Khair in Masafer Yatta in the occupied West Bank.

A powerful advocate for his community, who spoke to Parliamentarians on several occasions. He will be sorely missed.

My friend Awdah Hathaleen was murdered today by an Israeli settler, in his village, the Palestinian Bedouin community of Umm al Khair. I am heartbroken. Rest in power, Awdah.

An Israeli settler (sanctioned by the UK) shot Awdah in the chest.

Settler violence is Israeli state violence.

Umm al Khair, like many Palestinian communities is harassed, attacked daily by Israeli settlers & occupation forces, to ethnically cleanse and forcibly displace the residents. Policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing in action, daily.

Sanctioning two of Israel’s extremist ministers is welcome, but must go further. As many have highlighted, inc Parliamentarians in this letter, more needed to stop genocide in Gaza & pledged intentions to ethically cleanse Palestinians inc in the West Bank www.caabu.org/news/news/96...

"As Palestinians face violent erasure, inc Israeli imposed genocide, starvation & ethnic cleansing, the UK gov simply is not doing enough, & an increasing number of parliamentarians are also coming to this realisation."

Quote from Joseph Willits, Head of Parliamentary Affairs at Caabu (Council for Arab-British Understanding), who says:

"This letter shows that there is increasing parliamentary support for the UK to take tougher action against Israel. As Palestinians face violent erasure, including Israeli imposed genocide, starvation and ethnic cleansing, the UK government simply is not doing enough, and an increasing number of parliamentarians are also coming to this realisation.

Successive governments cannot claim to not know how communities across the West Bank are being violently dispossessed and forcibly transferred, which many of the signatories have visited.

What will it take for UK government action to match up with the horrifying situation and systemic violence on the ground, and to act on what parliamentarians, the British public, and most importantly, Palestinians have long been saying? Palestinians deserve an end to these horrors, leading to proper justice and accountability." Letter from 96 UK Parliamentarians who have demanded sanctions on Israel for war crimes against Palestinians and systematic violations of international law, including imposing targeted sanctions, a ban on trade with illegal settlements, and a suspension of the existing UK-Israel trade agreement. At @caabu.bsky.social we've taken 161 British parliamentarians to Palestine since 1997 incl current Cabinet members & ministers, party leaders & chairs of select committees.

Such delegations are vital, so little wonder at attempts to deny them meeting Palestinians www.instagram.com/p/DIRIyMSCqv...
