Writer. Sometimes screen, sometimes ghost. Mostly decent. Life is increasingly far stranger than fiction, but still trying to make sense of it through stories. Here because the other place got a little too fashy.
I know there's many far more important things going on right now, but can we all take a moment to talk about how utterly insane it is that Amazon premiered the Melania doc with an immediate WIDE RELEASE to 1500 FUCKING THEATERS? A documentary. About the least involved First Lady, like, ever.

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

Our Democratic elected officials are not rising to this moment so most of them must go.

Any elected official who isn’t willing to organize a Project 2029 around punishing everyone in the Trump administration in order to save democracy must go.

It took five of them to pin him to the ground and still these guys are such pathetic piss-pantsed losers they decided to unload a clip into him anyway

Such a cool, deserved moment for Sinners. More than anything else, just a pure, epic, explosive display of the awesome power of cinema at every level. Takes full advantage of the breadth of the art form; image, sound, performance, all coming together as one. My best time in the theaters last year

THE RIP one of those movies where you really feel the whole Netflix mandate of “explicitly remind the audience of key plot details every 20 minutes because are only half paying attention.”

A discussion needs to be had about not just the individual officers trampling citizen rights and murdering civilians, but the institutional cancer that fosters them.

These agents have been radicalized by their leaders and endless right wing slop to believe they are at war with the US populace.

Not sure exactly what investigation you need at this point. If they can do this, they can do anything.
Here's the ICE agent "defending himself" by shooting into the driver's side window of a car that's pulling *away* from him.

Put this photo on the front page of every newspaper in America.

What makes really these movies work, beyond their astonishing technical achievements is how goddamned genuine they are. There’s a lot of silly stuff in these stories. Blue aliens have emotional conversations with space whales in subtitled dialog! And Cameron puts zero irony in it. He cares, we care.

Anyway, while it’s perhaps a little messier than the other two, the highs of the third Avatar entry are extremely high and cast a shadow on just about every other modern genre blockbuster in its category. Big Jim remains a master of cinematic spectacle on a level unlike anyone working today. At 71!

Feeling a bit uncomfortable about how deliriously hot the new villain is in FIRE AND ASH. Would set my life as well as all of Pandora on fire for Varang and her drug powder. Quaritch, unfortunately, gets it.

The thing about using your political platform to drive as many people as possible frothing mad is there are more guns than people in this country and tragedy only takes one bullet

The thing about Daniel Penny and self defense laws is setting up a legal defense based largely on the perception of the perpetrator insinuates that the level of potentially lethal violence you are sanctioned to inflict on another individual necessarily increases based on how scary that person seems

Oh man Trump was totally going to respect the justice process and act ethically and not abuse his power at all before this and voters were definitely going to care if he stepped a toe out of line, oh no
