Musically I have no real issues with them apart from I just don't care for it.

I honestly think the musicians in RHCP do the one thing they do extremely well, possibly better than anyone. I suppose it comes down to if you enjoy that thing, which I mostly don't.

Vocally and lyrically, they have major problems.

Just saying, don't do the special stuff, or anything different than you want, out of a sense of obligation. That pretty much holds for whenever.

But if you love a turkey with all the sides, that's great too! That's special, you probably don't eat like that all the time, so go for it and enjoy the leftovers. And if you can't do it on the day everyone else does, do it when you can, or want, or don't if you want! It's all okay!

We always found it a good excuse to try something we'd never cooked - one year a duck, another a nice steak, whatever. And yeah, it revolved around the protein, but gimme a break, that was the easiest thing to vary. The most important thing was to make it special in a way we wanted.

On Thursday, did I watch MST3K and listen to Alice's Restaurant? Yep! Did I eat turkey? Nope! Did I eat well and do something involved that I don't usually have time for if I don't have the day off? Yes! That's my tradition, Mom never liked turkey, but we always did something unique for the dinner.
