Working together to open Old City Hall’s door to the public again, bring it back to life, and repurpose this historic landmark in many creative ways including a Museum of Toronto.

You work hard for every dollar you earn. You pay your taxes, but expect they’ll go toward the services & infrastructure we all rely on every day. And then you find out your money’s gone into Doug Ford’s slush fund to hand out to his friends. This corrupt government has to go.

A group of residents outside near Yonge and Eglinton cheering on the @BlueJays together. I love this.

Doug Ford is gaslighting you. If you’re trying to obey the law in Toronto and driving by a speed camera up to 10km over, you won’t be fined. This tool should be used to catch people driving near schools at excessive speeds, recklessly endangering our kids. www.thestar.com/news/gta/wha...

Step-by-step, we’re opening the doors of Old City Hall back to the public and bringing one of Toronto‘s greatest landmarks back to life. Thanks to @ERAarch for hosting tonight’s “Toronto the Good”!

The Eglinton LRT fiasco: Sign the petition to demand the province and Metrolinx open the Eglinton LRT and hold a public inquiry- demanding accountability and to ensure their mistakes aren’t ever repeated again. Make your voice heard here: joshmatlow.ca/publicinquiry

…must work with City staff to consider the aesthetic impacts on our neighbourhoods and practical concerns including accessibility, safety, traffic, litter collection, and snow clearing. I want the City to act proactively to address this.

…complicating matters is that Canada Post requires the boxes to be on concrete slabs & at least 9 metres from an intersection. It will be particularly challenging to even find enough possible locations in dense, older parts of the city.

Importantly, the federal government…

…from residents and municipalities, the government reconsidered and cancelled the plan in 2018.

Implementing these new boxes poses a lot of potential issues. The Toronto Star reported that between 2,500 and 11,000 boxes will be needed to replace home delivery. Further…

This is not the first time that Community Mailboxes in Toronto have been considered. In 2014, the federal government announced their intention to eliminate home delivery. After considerable pushback…

The federal government has announced its intention to replace door-to-door Canada Post delivery with Community Mailboxes. I’m bringing a motion to city council next week to address this. Currently, approximately 75% of Canadians receive their mail through these boxes. However, …

Today, there was a serious 2nd alarm fire near Bathurst & Dupont.

Toronto firefighters successfully fought the fire and stopped it from spreading to nearby buildings- and with no residents injured.

Our firefighters are heroes. Thanks so much to Chief Jim Jessop and his team!

The Toronto @BlueJays clinched the American League East title for the first time since 2015! Congratulations to the entire team. They’re doing our city proud!

A rare photo of two young girls possibly waiting for the LRT to arrive at Yonge and Eglinton back in 1922. Their great grandkids continue this tradition over a century later.

I loved Jim Bradley. He was a champion for St. Catharines and Niagara. At Queen’s Park, along with serving portfolios such as Tourism & Recreation, and Transportation, he was an effective and remarkable Environment Minister. My heartfelt condolences to his family and community.

Like many people 15 years ago, I believed privatization could deliver better services for less money. As a newly-elected councillor in 2010, I bought into that promise and voted in favour of Ford’s plan to privatize garbage collection. I was wrong. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
I once voted to privatize some Toronto city services. I now see that I was wrong
What was supposed to save us money has ended up costing more.

Ontario needs a new Premier. Doug Ford’s government has been dishonest & corrupt. He’s ballooned our province’s debt & deficit, has been incompetent on priorities including housing, education & healthcare, and now he’s playing politics with the safety of our kids. He needs to go.

I’ve got questions for Doug Ford.

…that drivers aren’t penalized if they go slightly over the limit. I’m moving a motion to create a reasonable threshold regarding fines at next week’s City Council Meeting. Leaders don’t just break things. They fix things and make things better. That’s our responsibility, Doug.

Doug Ford is playing politics with our kids’ safety. The answer to concerns about speed cameras isn’t simply to scrap something that has proven to make our communities safer and has the support of the police. The common sense approach is to ensure…

To Toronto’s Jewish community: My family and I wish you and your loved ones a Shana Tova. May this new year be sweet, may we all be safe and well, and may your lives be full of happiness and good health.

At street parties, coffee chats in the park, town halls and much more, I’ve been meeting with residents in every part of our community to have conversations about what matters.

I’m so happy to be back at Mabel’s Fables, now at the corner of Belsize and Mount Pleasant. If we value vibrant main streets and local, independent, small businesses, the very best way to save them is to shop at them. Forget Amazon, come buy a book here in our community!

Walking by Raccoon Park, a new playground we worked hard to get and recently opened near Yonge and Eglinton. Watching it being embraced and so well used by the community makes me so happy. I love this so much.
