This week I started playing with the new static site generator, @zensical.org, from the folks behind the Material for #MkDocs theme. While it's in alpha now, it's already very functional.

You can install it with pip, but dangit, I like containers.

I treated myself to a 49" ultrawide monitor a couple of years ago that I still use daily for work, and I love it, but nobody ever tells you these things are like an Archimedes Heat Ray for your face

As someone who has used metrics in the past to identify trends in tech support ops and learned first-hand how it can lead to unintended consequences, I wonder about the incentives driving behavior of ICE agents, the impact on recruits, and whether any of the consequences are unintended at all.

Today's #nokings protest was the first protest I've attended, and it was a GREAT experience! Very well organized by the volunteers, very positive vibe from participants and tons of positive feedback from passers by.

First protest, was a great experience. Very positive response from the community driving by. Someone said there was at least 600 participants, which feels like a good turnout for The Dalles which is on the edge of deeply red eastern Oregon.

I've been emailing Disney/ABC about their disastrous decision to fold to FCC pressure. This evening I added a "tracking pixel" (written in #powershell using pode) in my signature and was surprised to see the signature was loaded by an ATT and Verizon in LA and Tampa. I expected to get blackholed.

If you're concerned about what moves like this mean for free speech and democracy as a whole, let the Disney and ABC executives know. Scanning this QR code will start a new email message to the 23 executives whose addresses were, until this morning, available on the ABC website directly.

Our democracy is at risk and these media companies are unfortunately on the front lines. Consider emailing the 23 ABC and Disney executives whose addresses were, until this morning, available on ABCs website. Scanning this QR code will start a new email with all 23 addresses prefilled.

Thanks @katmabu.bsky.social, this is a dangerous and disgusting threat to free speech and democracy. Everyone should email the 23 ABC and Disney executives whose addresses were on ABC's site until this morning. Scanning this QR code will start a new email with their addresses prefilled.

Please consider emailing Disney and ABC executives. Scanning this QR code will start a new email to 23 executives whose addresses were, until early this morning, publicly available on ABC's own website. See the ALT text on the screenshot for an example message.

I emailed all 23 of the executives who had their addresses published on a public ABC page. Here are those email addresses in case anyone else wants to share their concern about free speech and corruption. Let's show media companies that we'll have their back if they do the right thing.

Well done #freespeech fans, ABC received so much backlash that they took down this contacts page. If you like #jimmykimmel 's show or you just don't want networks changing their programming to satisfy the current political leadership, you can still make your voice heard.

Genuine question. When looking up gas prices after our commander in chief's self-adulation on bring gas down to $2, I found two things. 1. There ARE places where gas is close to $2, and 2. There's a distinct west coast divide despite Oregon gas tax being "only" 40c per gallon. Distribution costs?

Inspired by a special project where they needed to export 36k hours of surveillance video from 1500 cameras to mkv, I wrote my first custom #powershell job using the ThreadJobs module for reference. Now it's a piece of cake to kick off any number of export jobs with controllable parallelism.

My only optical drive is in my unraid server tower on the other side of the house. So now when a rip finishes, I get a push notification using Pushover.

Well this is fun - I wrote a #powershell script to embed lyrics into my ripped music, and retrieve the user-submitted ratings from the musicbrainz api and embed them using metaflac. Then made some "smart playlists" for Navidrome to generate "best of" decade playlists using that data.
