Life is a whirlwind of sensory experiences and daily routines. Juggling work and family keeps me constantly on my toes. Staying informed about current events is important, even if it sometimes feels overwhelming. Finding peace and quiet is key.
At least officers can resign. Enlisted have obey or court martial, felony charge and years of prison.

It's not the one thing. There is deep distrust in assets located within the U.S. A big sell by one of the large players would trigger a cascading fire sale of U.S. Bonds,debts,equities... The fleeing of capital would create liquidity crisis that would make 08 Iceland look like summer camp for CPAs.

I am not, but I just finished my memoir and I was for it. My suggestion give yourself targets that are word count and time bound both. That's what I did and I ended up with near final, rough draft after about 4 months of writing.

The moment a large sale of U.S. assets happens, i.e. the Dutch Pension fund selling a large part of its U.S. bonds, the domino effect will be breathtakingly fast and deep. The U.S. will be bankrupt in under a week.

This is NOT said enough. Not to discredited Ghandi, but timing and what Britain was like at the time is a huge part of the calculation. Not to mention fighting colonialism is not the same as fighting totalitarianism. Similar, yes, but not the same.

For the record, I want a peaceful end to all of this madness. But, as a history uni grad, I am not sure I see a credible similar example where it does.

So people are just supposed to roll over while the government slaughters their family? Because, from an Ex Pats POV, I don't see this ending without violence. Historically, I am not sure of a dictator who was removed without it. Oppressive regimes (India-Britain, e.g.), sure, but Totalitarian ones?
January 17, 2026 at 2:36 AM
Consider the regime of Pol Pot. While non-violent resistance is effective in some contexts, history shows that under true totalitarianism, any form of dissent is summarily and violently extinguished. Some folks really will kill everyone. Then what does one do?

If you haven't started yet, could be worth inlaying a helfpul local resource such as a legal hotline.
January 15, 2026 at 3:18 AM
Fucking Stop, this is justifying not resisting at this point. The U.S. is long past fair and free elections without a real resistance. -Signed the rest of the Free World.

Maybe say something about the US doing exactly this, too. You can't keep hiding behind the facade of opacity. You're not a banker anymore.

Either you are with the people, or you are not at this point. Call for arrest, call for abolishing ICE and keep calling for Impeachment every day until this administration falls. Anything short of that is complicity, and we will hold you as a coconspirator at the trials if we all survive this.
