Horror enthusiast, Surrealism explorer.
My favourite fantasy stories like Catling’s The Vorrh, Ford’s The Dragon Waiting, or Wolfe’s Book Of The New Sun all disdain lore in favour of letting the reader infer the world from the drama.

I forget who said it but it was pointed out that the vast majority of 70’s rock songs fall into one of two categories: either A) I’m Going To Rock You or B) Hey, That Underage Girl Is Hot

A little bit of loneliness, a little bit of disregard, perhaps?

Very amusing to me that these nerds think they wouldn’t be an entire Freudian case study. Just the most fascinatingly maladjusted outlook on desire, to a depth unplumbable by any line.

For years now I’ve been calling them Tory Metal, which enrages fans but I’ve never heard a counter argument.

The ‘pivot-to-video’ horseshit that ended up causing a whole bunch of online ecosystems to tank (Cracked being the one that comes to mind) should be a black mark against meta forever.

Well phrased. That console & era was a time for (maybe) well-intentioned but ultimately doomed middle shelf games. I still recall the shockingly blithe racism of Kung Fu Chaos.

A thousand pages long and a seven figure advance. For a debut author. For this? This?

Also IIRC something like a year later, a mechsploitation anthology came out featuring a couple of the writers who had been some of Fall’s most vocal detractors. That appalled me.

It’s oddly comforting to know that I’m not alone in this. I’ve worked hard to love who I am, flaws and all, but every now and then I do wonder.

I feel you. It often feels that the social decision of who I was in school was a life sentence.

I (and I’m sure others) are here for antifascist extreme metal with sick riffs based on fantasy novel sequences

Saying ‘but money’ makes it politically worse, doesn’t it? If you can put a price tag on your principles then you don’t hold them. Wasn’t this the takeaway from those comics who performed in Riyadh?

Ideally in its entirety, front-to-back. The encore is the intro to Dreams, which abruptly halts, followed by the entire Tusk album again.
