Been listening to this @godstreetwine.bsky.social album for 30 years (on CD), and now my 11yo listens to it on vinyl. Thanks, GSW! You’ve made an 11yo incredibly happy.

Now if I can only take her back in time to see GSW at Irving Plaza and watch Willy Wonka during set break.

Have to imagine that whatever presidential aspirations Gretch had, they went down the drain with this photo. How embarrassing.

This is where it started: a D.C. newspaper from the date my great-grandfather was born: Feb 7, 1898. He was born in Hungary and emigrated to Philly, and was given this when he retired in the 1960s. Love of history + journalism.

I do appreciate how Bluesky has now become my town square, where people converse in the discourse of the day with winking knowledge that everyone else “gets it”.

“And while sometimes I wish I could unknow it, the least I can do is share the parts I believe you should know too.”

Oh, buddy.

When I was covering adtech, understanding the Lumascape, a slide from a banker about all the companies that sit between publisher and end-user, was an important text to know where the messy middle is, but also the fraud.

They've now done it for AI companies.

"Two months after Kirk’s assassination, a gov-backed campaign led to firings, suspensions, investigations and other action against 600+ people. GOP officials have endorsed the punishments, saying those who glorify violence should be removed from positions of trust."

Tech companies are backing away from creating diversity reports.

Microsoft, which released its annual diversity and inclusion report in 2024, is choosing to not do one in 2025.

On this day in 1863 Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address.

“Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.”

Went to the semi-annual record fair in my town.

The 11yo got a Wes Montgomery album and a Fleetwood Mac album, continuing her run of impeccable musical taste.

And got to see @themikeayers.bsky.social and his booth with his great oral history of 1990s jambands.

We should talk more about credit card companies adding a 3% vig to small businesses, and how small businesses have the tough choice of eating g that fee or passing it on to customers.

An op-ed from Chris Christie (!!) that says "Regulated betting, when done right, strengthens the integrity of sports."

No discussion of gambling's deleterious effects on people!

Not only is "the media" now a key player in this Epstein story, reporters are now interviewed about each other.

Also, this quote is quite something.

"Fifteen years ago, nearly nine in 10 US households had a pay TV subscription. By the end of 2025, that number will be down to five out of 10."

Almost 5yrs ago, a tv exec told me:

One of the things about today’s media ecosystem that I’ve come to appreciate: the creativity in telling stories.

Biased here, but I think our social content team does a great job of communicating The News in interesting ways.

It’s just another layer of journalism, of information exchange.

They are OUTRAGED. But the bill will still pass.

(I wish one didn’t have to be a millionaire to run for Congress. I’d love to run, to be a public servant and help my state, but I can’t just quit my job to run. I have bills to pay, mouths to feed. And if I lose, then what? Not many media gigs!)
