Felt rejuvenated after this year’s Annual @hhmi.org Gilliam Conference! Was so nice being with the future of science again 😊 great time sharing my story, playing music, and telling everyone the hot gossip with the happenings of the year 🤭

expecting a lot of @sciforgood.bsky.social contributions 🤗

Great conversation with Representative Deborah Ross today, along with students from NC State!

Great conversations re: multi year funding, the NSF GRFP, @sciforgood.bsky.social, international student scientists, @snapcoalition.bsky.social and more!

Please consider signing this open letter!

The GRFP helped me secure an internship in the NIH Office of Science Policy (through its INTERN supplemental funding) and helped me find different levers to bridge science and society

I mentor 10+ students every year in the application process, and they always remind me of how bright the future is

Please share with anyone who cares about NSF support for graduate students and take 30 seconds to sign and leave a comment.

The deadline for the 2025 Graduate Research Fellowship Program is about one month away and literally no one can apply. #NSFGRFP

I'm exited to announce a new resource about making slides with quarto and revealjs. This book is the combination of all the work I have done in this area, reordered and polished up

There isn't a lot of new information yet, but this format allows me to add more easily

Really excited to share our latest work led by @mattiaubertini.bsky.social and @nesslfy.bsky.social: we report that cohesin loop extrusion creates rare but long-lived encounters between genomic sequences which underlie efficient enhancer-promoter communication.

Really enjoyed reading the new @lucagiorgetti.bsky.social lab preprint that makes the case that not all E-P interactions are created equal - it is the subset of long-lived extrusion-mediated E-P interactions that are most transcriptionally important:

Still coming down from the high of the annual HHMI Gilliam meeting. To be seen is to be loved, and I truly felt that. Even with the constant undercurrent of anxiety and disappointment (because of … well, everything), there was still so much joy and laughter.

Remember: Joy is resistance. ✨

Asking BlueSky for help: For a review, I am trying to accurately credit the first paper that measured pairwise 3D distances between 2 pieces of DNA on the same chromosome (or cosmid). Is Trask 1989 the first?
I know of earlier single-locus papers (1982).
