A jobless game dev complaining about the competitive gaming corporate-ness of the last decade.
Dude. I'm trying to make you realize a flaw in your thinking. If you cannot read that and learn, it tells more about you than me.

My goal is not, was not, will never be to reduce you. But, once again, you are turning that into a "you're insulting me". On that I'm really done.
August 20, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Side note, if you didn't block me, then what happened to the original post ? Because all I see is "post blocked".
August 20, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Was never a dick to you. I was trying to show a bit of hypocrisy in your initial post and try to inform you why it's problematic.

You took it as an insult and escalated things. I just hope you keep that interaction in mind in the future.
August 20, 2025 at 1:15 PM
I find it funny that you had to come along before they decided to block me. Surround yourself with people challenging your ideas (until they start insulting you). That's the only way to learn more.

To be transparent, I muted them because they turned the interaction into a sparring match.
August 20, 2025 at 1:01 PM
Yeah fair. But the sentiment of "they're greedy, but I'm still spending on it" is there. And that's the issue.

People need to realize, especially with digital goods, that your wallet speaks volumes compared to your words.
August 20, 2025 at 12:56 PM
Bingo.
My problem with the original post was the "companies are dumb for doing this but I'm spending for the things they do haha"
If you identified the problem, then stop spending on it and/or start movements to pressure reps to regulate.
Also, you kinda need to be specific on the problematic parts
August 20, 2025 at 12:47 PM
There's a difference between blame and innocence.

The world is a gray freaking mess. That part of companies is more black than white. But it's a legal entity. It does not know morals.

Hence why, if anything, you should blame a lack of laws surrounding that kind of spending.
August 20, 2025 at 12:41 PM
I never said "companies are innocent". I agreed with you earlier. Putting words in my mouth here.

I said that there's no point blaming companies if you keep buying the things you are complaining about.
August 20, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Oh absolutely. I just don't like the rhetoric that "companies are to blame" when they are doing what they're meant to do.

Regulations are the only thing that will change this issue.

To make a change in the world you need to first understand it. And companies won't have remorse if you keep spending
August 20, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Because "blaming the greedy company" is not helping.

I trying to add clarity. You took it as an argument.
August 20, 2025 at 12:01 PM
I'm not being aggro. I'm just pointing out flaws in that rhetoric. You cannot expect a legal entity whose whole goal is to make money to save you from giving them money.

So yeah blame the company... but don't sit on it and keep spending.
August 20, 2025 at 12:00 PM
If you have so bad of a FOMO where you can't control yourself... I'd suggest seeking help.
August 20, 2025 at 11:58 AM
If no one bought those DLC they'd either stop selling them, or bundle them in free upgrades or put more into the DLCs.

For microtransactions gallore, companies won't self regulate. You need someone to step it who has the population at heart (theoretically the government)
August 20, 2025 at 11:57 AM
Extortion : Extortion is the practice of obtaining benefit through coercion
Coerce :To pressure, intimidate, or force into doing something.

No one is forcing you to buy a DLC. Words have meaning. Be careful with them.

Yes they deserve shit for it. But why do they do it ? Because people pay for it.
August 20, 2025 at 11:54 AM
A company is *made* to make money.
Companies will *never* be your friend.
If they are acting "friendly" it's because it ultimately shows on their bottom line.

If you don't like a system, don't interact with it. Don't give them money. Just avoid it.

I mean, historically it makes sense with the kitchen accord... Not really a holiday which we like to celebrate.

Yes. Thats my point. A paid for "tech demo". We don't have the full picture on Welcome tour. It could be worth a price.

And Nintendo Land was never free to my knowledge.
April 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Yes and no. What we've seen in the trailer, charging for that is plain ridiculous. Bit Nintendo Land for the WiiU was considered a tech demo but it still was one of thr best party game of the console imho.

Something that is missing from this story : This was in Montréal (Québec). The province that tries to separate from Canada TWICE. Y'all made Québécois proud to be Canadians.
