Is this satire? Honestly, I can't tell.

I have a modest public profile and am happy to chat about archaeology. Most people are fine.

However, if you are taking the piss by sending nonsensical comments and DMs you will get blocked immediately in all cases.

Very much inspired by a recent experience.

Its clay land to the north and east, hence the kilns. Westy B is just over the bridge.

Spent the day studying and writing about maps. Which just about my ideal.

No chance that I could afford either, I'm afraid.

Had a price from a small livery company. Eye-wateringly expensive, unfortunately.

I'm afraid that Ruddington is too far out. I need something in the city rather than a satellite village.

Some good leaf kicking to be had on Dale Street.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive. Like, eyewatering prices 😬
jpwarchaeology.bsky.social
Not currently. Just casting about for venues and prices.
jpwarchaeology.bsky.social
Its not the right venue for this. Plus, I'm sick of speaking there and the hire costs have become unaffordable 🤣
jpwarchaeology.bsky.social
Sure, please go for it 🙂

I've already got something booked there but its members only. Also need a public space, preferably accessible (which BHL isn't).

Does anyone have any intel on reasonably priced city centre spaces which seat approximately 50-people located in...

1) Nottingham

2) Norwich

3) London

Historic building preferred but not essential.

This morning, I opted to watch a bit of, that excellent jester, James Acaster over breakfast. Turns out laughter first thing is good for you.

Staffordshire County Council are unable to adequately support the Mythbusting shows at Stone (14 Oct) and Stafford (15 Oct). These events are now cancelled. With 120+ shows completed the rarity of these cancellations speaks volumes. I am very disappointed with the organisers.

I did it so that others didn't have to. It was a selfless act of charity.

Yeah, naming no names... some of the false claimants are very good pubs, whereas some of the true claimants are rather less than good pubs. Its a minefield.

Ah. Also privately known as The Most Extravagant Pub Crawl chapter...

Ahhhhhh, thanks so much for the vote of confidence :-)

Just finished reading this wonderful book by @jpwarchaeology.bsky.social

Recommended reading for anyone with an interest in old buildings and an enquiring and critical mind…
