My favorite was for a subordinate who wanted to go for a PhD after some time in my industry. The letter system of one program required an academic email address, as if people who leave academia can no longer have valid opinions about someone's qualifications and potential

the birthright clause was not just written to wipe dred scott off of the books, it was written to repudiate the *idea* behind dred scott, you might say the larger *ideological project* of dred scott. and the whole of section 1 of the 14th amendment is a constitutional statement of political equality

Also, not all animal models are the same. We can't just do everything in mice because some disease processes and genes do not translate between humans and mice, thus necessitating other animal models for select diseases and gene studies.

Sure, but at this election, unless someone is mounting a successful write-in campaign, one of the people on the ballot will be the next elected official, so people should deal with that reality, and rank their preference using this predefined list. It's an election, not who you invite to dinner

We published on a method to collect two experiments at once in my grad lab for MAS SSNMR: acquiring an afterglow spectrum (like 2D NCO or 3D NCOCX) after first collecting a standard 2D NCA or 3D NCACX using the residual nitrogen magnetization. Neat method to get a "free" spectrum

Good one. "Kavanaugh Stops" for when DHS officers grab US citizens on the street and detain them for anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple days, and "Kavanaugh Raids" for when DHS officers raid a worksite or apartment building and detain US citizens for hours/days while they check everyone there.
