I have no desire to go back to watch those movies, but I continue to unpack my own faith upbringing. I feel like we skipped over the beatitudes and focused on how soon the rapture would happen, and protecting ourselves from demonic influences.

That generation of evangelicals would have grown up with the 'Left Behind' books, Frank Perretti's 'Darkness' books that showed enemies are all demonic. And Hal Lindsay's prophetic writing, heralding an epic world-ending battle in Israel of good vs evil. Not a good basis for foreign policy.
