And if you’re of a certain age, any kid with aspiration or apparent inclination to become a “boffin” in future life must also familiarise themself with the term “tefal-head” youtu.be/4M1PCyb6KSQ

Correct. Only newspapers are permitted to use the word “boffins”, in relation to some scientific advance or observation.

Er, yeah. From a good few years ago now, a 2hr edit for On The Wire but I published the full version on Soundcloud after Keith’s death and remarkably it’s not been taken down: soundcloud.com/jrbinks/keit...

He was gracious and enthusiastic and further said nice things about my Major Malfunction Reimagined project. It was a shock to find shortly after that relationship was coming to an end after it had barely started, and can only imagine how it was for those who knew him much better.

I only met Keith once, last year, but knew him/Optimo by reputation after moving to Glasgow in 99; I’d corresponded with him by email, to let him know I was quoting him on the sleeve notes to Bugs On The Wire re-issue, & to send him a preview of an edit I was doing of one of his faves from that LP.

I like songs with unusual structures. SSS is basically just a collection of short solos interspersed by (Krupa) drum solos. Genius. A couple times a year I will search YouTube for cover versions and some aren’t bad. 🧵/ends

It was responsible for my mild obsession for “Sing Sing Sing (With A Swing)” by Louis Prima, but for which Carnegie Hall 1938 is the canonical performance with the splendid Gene Krupa youtu.be/0NigiwMtWE0 🧵

If you find any discussions on the Internet about it … it was probably me … I even asked ChatGPT, and all it regurgitated was what I had written myself and no further revelations… 🧵
