With that premise, professional rulers are then seen as a sort of parasite class. Taking from the Demos, but providing nothing of real value in return.

I believe the counter argument is that in a democracy any member of the demos should be able to be part of the government. If professional rulers are needed then it is no longer a democracy.

I had to look up who Charlie Kirk was after he was murdered. I will need to look up Fuentes before I can say I know anything about him.
Starship Troopers I read, and enjoyed, as a teen. Haven't revisited it since but I am aware that many people dislike the book and Heinlein's thinking in general.
