For sure! Ruel was very nice and interesting to talk to.

OrcaCon should have video eventually and when it's up I'll link it here with all the other stuff for the book:

Thanks, Liz ❤️ I know it's easy to second guess whether you should do more, but we appreciate all you already do! Being kind and thoughtful and joyful is resistance too.

I also like resistbot a lot. Can send emails to multiple reps at the same time through text message.

But these ideas can be very evocative, so I'll happily call game designs "art" if it helps folks see their depth.

(I mean, I did just write about using artistic vs. industrial language to describe digital boardgames).

I just want to question not canonize such loaded words.

Here’s how I know I’m getting old: I can’t stop ranting about newfangled technologies and the whippersnappers who use them.  But you won’t find me yelling to get apps out of my boardgames.&nbs…

All these uses are interesting, but these oppositions break down if you push on them too hard.

And these uses carry a ton of cultural baggage that I don't always love.

I'd say the *how* is usually that "art" is seen as inspired whereas "design" is seen as crafted.

And I'd say the "who" is usually that "art" is associated with the art community whereas “design” is associated with industry.

In everyday usage, I agree that the *what* is usually that “art” is seen as being about expression whereas “design” is seen as being about function.

I'd say the *why* is usually that “art” is seen as done for its own sake whereas “design” is seen as done to accomplish a practical purpose.
