I'll have to keep an eye out! I'm pretty fond of him, too... 😉

Good grief. I always forget just how big the portions are when I order from this place. 👀

Halp!

Ooooh, swanky! Have never had a new pair of shoes come with a matching carry bag before. Can’t wait to rock these bad boys! #PUMA #FENTY

Helmet bag! I might have spent a *little* bit too much money on Etsy, just saying. Loved this one for the velcro areas for attaching patches, etc. Also pockets for the yellow travel biscuits, stale though they may be. (Never know when you might get stuck on an Outer Rim desert planet. 🎯)

Y’know what, Salt Lake City? Sometimes I forget just how pretty of a place we get to call home.

Last meal ever at El Asadero; I will miss this place like crazy. The west side is losing a legend.

Any idea of the travel time of the seismic waves to Hawaii? There's a pretty long quake (over 7 minutes) showing up at about 23:32:40 UTC on the Kīlauea seismometers, assuming it's that.

I love it when a flan comes together. #SurpriseDessert

Kīlauea is putting on a good show again today. Amazing to watch that cinder cone to the southwest of the vents growing in real time (doing some A/B tests from even just an hour ago show a lot of growth). At this rate, the cone will be level with Kaluapele within a few more eruptions. #Kilauea

Well, great. As if the day couldn't get any worse, we've reached the heat death of the universe. It's surprisingly warm for maximum entropy, but hey... it's a dry NaN.

If they ever want to upgrade, I've got a suggestion. It's even got easy road access for transport. NPS might have some questions, but otherwise...

Mistakes were made (apparently I need to calibrate my eyes’ enthusiasm). Absolutely loving this place, wish I had known about it sooner!

Good grief. When they said “chilaquiles,” they weren’t kidding. So much for a “quick snack.”

Ugh. Always on a Sunday. At this point, if I wasn’t unsure about whether I’ll have a job after Friday or not, I would just break down and buy a whole new dryer… this one is starting to require too many repairs to keep it up. The less said about the 30-year-old washing machine next to it the better 😬

Can confirm! We're overcast here for this one, but this was about as good as I got with my meager kit back in 2022:

Okay sure, listen: I'm no geologist. But maybe, if we're going to point a video camera at a mostly-dark crater floor that's known for steaming vents blowing across the off-center bright vent all night, just maybe, we could switch to manual focus at night? Promise, the volcano isn't moving.

Well, looks like things are really about to hit the flan.
February 1, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Now we’re talking! Just the “be patient and wait for the okra to do its’ thing” phase (which I suck at). Also, apparently my new chef’s knife is sharp 🤣

Getting there… but still missing a few goodies… soon!

Smells like good things are happening soon…

Good ol’ WTForecast! It’s rather more balmy here in the good ol’ Intermountain West! 🤣
