At JRS UK, we see every day how failings in the asylum system put women at risk. Each year, the #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen calls us to confront the many ways women are subjected to harm.

May each day we welcome people who have fled danger with warmth, compassion, and dignity - offering not just food or support, but friendship and belonging. Because no one should ever feel like a stranger when they seek safety.

On #WorldFoodDay, we celebrate the meals that connect us, the cultures that enrich us, and the generosity that nourishes body and soul.

At our social drop-in, food is more than a meal — it’s joy, laughter, and friendship shared across cultures.

On #InternationalDayofPeace, we remember peace is more than the absence of war – it’s welcome, justice & hope. At JRS UK, refugee friends show us peace is built in community: sharing food, gathering, & recognising each person’s dignity. We stand with all seeking sanctuary.

Every Saturday, refugee friends and Wapping residents gather in the JRS UK garden 🌱. This summer we’ve shared potatoes, onions, and even a winning sunflower 🌻—and now the beds are full of carrots and cabbage. A little patch of joy, grown together.
