Dubé is right - Monty is not a "bad goalie", he's a goalie who is playing badly. It happens. Think of Swayman last year or Bobrovsky in his early years in Florida. But there's no way of knowing how long it will take for him to play better.

Teams regularly shuffle backup goalies, whether by trade for minor asserts or by claiming them off waivers. If calling up Kahkonen is the answer, they should risk it. They can always keep three goalies on the roster...

The 2022 draft didn't have a generational superstar. People just have to accept that we got a very good, still developing player. Even with 20-20 hindsight, there's no other player I would take over him now (Cooley? Wright?Gauthier?).

Are worried about losing Khakonen? If he plays well, he doesn't need to go back down. If he doesn't, and Dobes is ready to come back up, put him on waivers. If another team wants him, let him go and take the next goalie on waivers... He's not our future in goal, he's insurance. Make a claim!

It's like a touchdown - you only have to "break the plane" of the goal line to be in the endzone. He recovered it on the goal line. Bummer but that one was the right call.

I'd love to see time on the ice stats excluding special teams for last night's game - seemed like Sammy Blais and Joe Veleno were on the ice more than NIck Suzuki and Cole Caufield at regular strength. Don't think we will see that in the regular season!
