I hope you get a chance. The last act is definitely messy, but the film’s stuck with me. I think I might love it.

And cue the drafting of an elaborate stage play about the fall of Nvidia that features velociraptors for some reason.

My brother introduced my family to it during Christmas of '22. It says something that my Dad, who respects animation as a medium and fantasy as a genre, but generally doesn't go wild for them, was enthralled.

I have the piece as a PDF, at least!

One of the best pieces of writing I ever did was about "Perceptions" (namely, the way that I think it's a riff on Twin Peaks, based on a line of Peter's, the general subject, and when McFarlane was writing). Unfortunately, the website where it was published seems to be gone.

The first year was the one he wrote, yeah. The writing is definitely a long way from DeMatteis, but "Perceptions" takes Spider-Man to rural Canada, and if it doesn't work, it's not for lack of ambition or trying something new.

It also has some really lovely moments for Peter and MJ.

I think it might be more "interesting" than "great," but McFarlane's year on adjectiveless is beautifully illustrated, and its most interesting story (where Spidey goes to Canada to try and solve a series of child murders) is a hell of a (no pun intended) swing.

Tipping and supporting me allows me to not only have support while I work with the state to get health care but also means I can continue to care for mixed as a disabled trans person. That includes being able to set aside time to write queer and trans articles.
