No. Your Twitter traffic did NOT double overnight.

What happened?
Twitter's been stagnating/declining since 2023
The growth team growth hacked (making links auto-open in webview)
They hope marketers will fall for it & pay more attention again.
But, it's nothing more than smoke & mirrors.

AI is no silver bullet, but it's definitely made me a more productive programmer
AI as pair programmer
Most of my use of LLMs is to help with code, kind of like a pair programmer. I know enough to be dangerous here already, particularly SQL. I'm proficient, but I'm also pretty slow at writing anything ...

I think the need to plan, at least for me, comes from a place of wanting to avoid the feeling of uncertainty. Yet uncertainty is the only certainty out there. jshearer.org/2025/03/14/p...

This is so cool to see. Another turn around the sun for one of the best places on the web.
This One Goes to 27. I have somehow been pursuing the “moderately anachronistic” practice of blogging for 27 years, “almost cartoonishly long for a medium optimized for impermanence”. [kottke.org]
This One Goes to 27
On this day 27 years ago, on March 14, 1998, I started this here website. I’m not sure what there is to say about the ridiculous length of time that I’ve spent doing this “moderately anachronistic thing” that I haven’t

This plays out anecdotally in own search behavior. I use LLMs a ton, but not much for search. Perhaps I do so unconsciously, not trusting the LLM to have access to all the content I might want it to search from.
If we include ChatGPT, what is Google's *REAL* market share of search?

After years of speculation, we finally have enough reliable data to build high quality numbers for both services. I think you'll be quite surprised; I definitely was!

About a year ago, I left behind my full time role leading a team and charted out on my own, both to start consulting again, and to launch a weird little side project. The results so far? A mixed bag.

Here's a great example of how bad generative AI is at search. Why is Perplexity telling me about Google making revenue on Microsoft's Azure cloud platform?

I’m amazed in 2025 how often I still meet marketers, ops folks, even analysts that don’t know a line of SQL.

And they’re often weirdly proud of that fact?

SQL isn’t always the right tool, but listen, neither is that crazy spreadsheet hack or your over-engineered dashboard.
