I was involved with the Recces and some of the Rhodesians that had migrated to SA when I did my National Service from 1985-1991. To stress I was not an “operator” but was support. The Recces called themselves operators, and the staff referred to them as such.

The SADF Reconnaissance Commandos “Recces” were referred to locally and within the military in SA as “operators” in the 80’s and there was a great deal of intermingling between them and C Squadron/Selous Scouts.
