The paper I'm most proud of from the past year: I got to join fellow Sidanius labmates to connect decades of research on social dominance theory, which ended up showing how the original idea of a 'basic grammar of social power' put forward by Jim and Felicia in 1999 is more plausible than ever...

Thanks Gordon, we put our hearts and souls into this one!

Yesterday was my last day as faculty @lsepbs.bsky.social, a place dear to me, from my MSc 20 years ago to the first 10 years of my academic career! I will transition to LSE Senior Visiting Fellow, then focus on launching the Psychology In Political & Economic Systems (PIPES) Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi 🤓

Just a reminder that it has been more than 60 days since Israel blocked any food, fuel, or medicine from getting into Gaza.

Thanks, Gordon, we're incredibly happy to see this out, after a long year of deep work to link it all together in a way Jim and Felicia would be happy with!

The number of people surprised by the long list of words NSF is targeting makes me think many of you all have not seen this: www.commerce.senate.gov/services/fil...
maybe 250 words describing status 250-ish social justice words smaller text -- 400 words on social justice and gender? And another 150 or so on race

Punchy interjection from Karim Bettache (showing PSPR being more bold),asking why psychology doesn't do more study of capitalism. I agree - it's hard to notice as it's like the water we swim in, yet we'd always check water to be sure it's not getting too harmful! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

So interesting, I wonder if a countervailing force is the effect of being socialised into what SDT would call a hierarchy-enhancing institution on increasing SDO, something Lotte Thomsen and I plan to check in Denmark where there's also random selection into army service!

I feel a bit like this about open science. The reforms will likely lead to positive outcomes, even if we overestimate their ability to solve our problems (e.g., replication crisis)

The open science movement got us to THINK about what we're doing. That's a positive spin-off if nothing else.

Happy to announce that I have taken up the post of Associate Professor in Psychology at NYU Abu Dhabi 👩‍🎓
Feeling grateful as the location & intercultural setting is what my family needs, and the political psychology group I'm joining is fantastic. Leaving LSE in May 💔🥲

There are decent arguments that the replication crisis was partly caused by us not asking enough of the "why"
