If you're not collaborating, checkout @libreoffice . I've used it for the last 6 or 7 years and it's rock solid.

If you are collaborating, I've had great luck with @CryptPad for simple documents (a step up from Etherpad if […]

Rural Liberal voters and urban Conservative voters keep getting shut out even when they show up in huge numbers.

A system that rewards geography instead of voters is not a real democracy.

Proportional representation would finally make every vote count.

Politicians love to warn that the other side has a radical agenda. Yet, they don't seem too concerned that first past the post means they can win a majority with less than 40% of the vote.

Fear alone will not fix democracy. Proportional representation will.

Canada’s system traps us in large big-tent parties, forcing endless infighting and floor crossings.

Proportional representation would let Canadians of every kind win seats for what they believe in instead of fighting for control of one tent.

When an incumbent government blames vote splitting for their loss, don't fall for it.

They had the power to enact electoral reform, but they chose not to. It's a power play they all take, and it's costing us a representative #democracy

A party can win a “majority” with less than 45% of the vote.

That’s not democracy.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s results show again how first past the post rewards false majorities and leaves most voters without representation.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! For this special day, I've a song by Tokyo Police Club keyboardist and Torontonian Graham Wright appropriately called "Canadian Thanksgiving".

For this #musicmonday, we've a song about the #montreal neighborhood that I call home. Ada Lea sings about the Van Horne Overpass, the railroad tracks that run through it, and Waverly street all make an appearance, and it really captures the lovely, surreal feeling this neighborhood sometimes […]

I've got a bit of a weird one for #musicmonday this week. I usually pick songs that get stuck in my head, and I've been muttering "She means everything to me/She's got a positive I.D." to myself ever since I first heard this track on https://soma.fm .

The example text Claude Shannon uses in "Prediction and Entropy of Printed English" (1950) is probably one of my favourites and people should use it more often.

Happy #musicmonday, I'm back at it with some homegrown #indie #folk . It's the sedate-but-whimsical "n'as-tu jamais vu d'oiseaux?" by #montreal 's own Rosier.

I really wish @signalapp would have the ability to have Slack/Discord-style channels in groups, or even Matrix/Element-style Group Spaces.

I think it's the main friction I currently have getting friend group chats to migrate over. It's really the only missing feature for us.
