Managed to get the Mrs. to brave the crowds and head to the Esslingen Weihnachtsmarkt for Glühwein and pulled pork. Be sure to get your Glühwein at "Taverne zum wilden Hahn" and get the homemade version.

Happy 1. Advent. With all thanks to the Mrs., we managed a little Thanksgiving meal for our Sonntagsbraten. Best part, always the best part, was the stuffing.

Local Christmas market weekend in Plochingen! Our church wasn't able to sing this year, but our Iranian Geschwister have a stand with some amazing food. Soup was to die for. How wonderful that they brought this bit of their culture with them.

Thanksgiving was first visit to the Esslingen Christmas market of the season: coconut lentil soup, wurst, and Glühwein with my love. Esslingen has the best Glühwein I've had. The crunchy hippy pouring drinks said it was their own recipe. Didn't ask too many questions, but it tasted heavenly.

When I was a baby, my Mom cross stitched this Jim Elliot quote, which, sadly, I lost track of. She and my dad came and visited me this weekend and surprised me by re-framing it. I'll hang it in my home office, when I have one. It's one of my treasures.

It's hard for me not to get sad in the Fall as the days get darker. In a way, it's an act of discipline to find joy in the amazing colors God offers at this time. I got to do that on a walk with my wife today. I do love this piece of Earth where I get to live. I hope you saw some amazing colors too.
