Ravi took a shaky breath, his voice trembling. “It... it attacked me. The thing we brought on board. I was analyzing the samples when it—” He winced, his hand going to his temple. “It threw me across the lab. I hit my head, and everything went dark.” Hen and Athena exchanged a concerned glance. “What thing, Ravi?” Athena pressed. “The sample,” Ravi whispered. “It wasn’t just organic matter. It was... alive. It ate him.” Hen’s stomach sank. “Ate who?” “Sebastian,” Ravi said, his voice barely audible. “It got him. I saw it—tore him apart. He’s dead.” Athena stiffened. “Ravi, that’s not possible. I just spoke to Sebastian. He was in the maintenance tunnels.” Ravi’s face drained of color, his breath coming in short, panicked gasps. “No. No, no, no, no...” Hen grabbed his arm gently but firmly. “Ravi, breathe. What are you trying to say?” His wild eyes met hers, terror etched into his features. “That wasn’t Sebastian,” he whispered. “It’s the thing. It's a shapeshift. It has to be.”
