This week is my first as Developer Relations Engineer at Canonical 🐧

Canonical’s mission is to amplify the impact of open source, and I'm thrilled to contribute to that 💓

Excited to collaborate, learn, and grow with amazing colleagues!

Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

And, like every crisis, it always comes in 2 parts. The second part will write itself today.

Will Framework ignore critics (or worse, double down?) or will they yield?

Well, looks like we really can't have any nice things

"We deliberately create a big tent, because we want open source software to win" is the new "but RMS started GNU 40 years ago".

Open source and free software cannot be a "big tent" if toxic individuals push everyone out of said tent, and cannot win.

Very disappointed by this stance by @frame.work
Framework supporting far-right racists?
We support open source software (and hardware), and partner with developers and maintainers across the ecosystem. We deliberately create a big tent, because we want open source software to win. We d...

We're doing more testing of 25.10 on our side, but pre-release tests by @phoronix-poster.bsky.social on Framework Desktop show some great performance gains:

Importante resultado: análisis causal para España muestra que al aumentar el número de turistas recibidos aumenta el empleo en el sector, pero:

❌No aumenta el empleo total.
❌Se reduce empleo en sector manufacturero.
❌Bajan los salarios.
❌Aumenta empleo baja cualificación.

I mean, yes*

But also understand that some of us have learned not to argue with strangers on the Internet.

Apologising honours you but also he removed your authorship to criticise the form and the substance without piling on the person.

Don't turn it into a scapegoat. Nobody owes you a lecture.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

últimamente duran tanto y no explotan? Hilo🧵

After getting a personal laptop... I just got a corporate one. And I went for @slimbook.com !

They were so kind as to engrave the Canonical/Ubuntu logo 🥰

The first experience has been amazing. In literally 30 seconds the laptop was ready. Just choose username, keyboard layout, and go.

Do you ever get the feeling that nothing seems to work anymore?

Bills go up. Services get worse. Basics are luxuries. How did we get here?

I mean, I'm not neutral anymore but... I genuinely think the agenda for the Ubuntu Summit 25.10 is *amazing*

Suspension of accts from Bluesky has called into question the mission and very existence of Blacksky. "If bsky can still suspend you, what's the point?"

For one usually Bluesky doesn't just suspend you. They delete all of your data AND suspend you. Moving to Blacksky prevents that. 4/11

this is the weirdest product discovery technique I've ever seen.

anyway, what people here want is

1️⃣ "edit" button
2️⃣ local trends
3️⃣ moderation they can trust
4️⃣ clear boundaries of where suspensions happen (original "speech vs reach")
and 5️⃣ reassurement that Bluesky PBC will not sell out

The stable release of Python 3.14 is out now! Go, go, go update! 🙌

discuss.python.org/t/python-3-1...
Cute illustrated logo featuring a pink/peach colored pie displaying ‘3.14’ (pi), surrounded by two snakes in blue and yellow. The design is encircled by text reading ‘r-strings • zsid • free-threading • support • sub-interpreters • REPL highlighting • note colour • colour’ in a circular arrangement. The illustration uses a soft pastel color palette with blue, yellow, and pink tones, and includes decorative sparkle elements.
