It is all a complete con though. I’ve got a nice, reasonably expensive guitar and yet I’m still a shit guitarist. How is that fair?

This reminds me of when my sons under 14’s football team had an end of season ‘team player of the year’ award that was voted for by the whole team. The manager said it was ‘too close to call’ between 2 of the lads…so he gave it to his son…who wasn’t either of the 2…

The fact that they both came from dysfunctional and abusive family backgrounds is a matter of fact. But…that doesn’t even remotely explain or excuse why they did what they did. Absolutely horrific and baffling, even all these years later.

I read an article about it a few years ago that claimed one of the detectives - a proper, old school, hard nosed copper who’d seen some horrendous things in his time - had said that Venables was the most chilling and downright evil character he had encountered in 20+ years of policing.

I went to the London Calling 40th anniversary exhibition at the Museum of London. The place was full of balding awe struck 50-something blokes.
The cafe was full of bored wives (mine included) having a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake instead of looking at ‘a broken guitar’…
