Jonathan Lear has died. I had the pleasure to work with him in Chicago a couple of years ago.

We had fruitful disputes about philosophy and psychoanalysis as well as about the need to appreciate the silent presence of negativity in both.

What a devastating loss.

Welcome, new Bluesky users!
Things are a wee bit different here than over there.
We like it:
- vague and feverish
- scratchy and resounding
- flashy and flavored
- sleepless and dreamy
- interwoven and knotted
You will soon get used to everything.

Finished "Parable of the Sower" by Octavia E. Butler this week.

An important reflection about what it means to create communities in the middle of chaos.

But most importantly a story expertly proving the point that the scariest science fiction pieces are the ones set in the near future.

Recently finished reading "Always coming home" by Ursula Le Guin (1985).

A speculative anthropology, a vast landscape, a thicket.

A warning: You can get lost in this tableau that breathes the green air of a Pacific coastline sometime in the future and has neither end nor beginning.
