The Carter Center set about this in 1986 when there were 3.5m cases of guinea worm disease worldwide. So far this year there have been seven. It would only be the second disease after smallpox ever to be completely eradicated. Again: a good man. RIP.

I thought this was an excellent read. There’s a lot of interesting and good information in the book and you can definitely see how it pertains to what’s happening in our world today.

Not that it’s a surprise, but that report must be pretty damning if he’s removing his name from consideration.
