A long time coming for @404media.co: @jasonkoebler.bsky.social and I looked at hundreds of pages of court docs to see what lawyers say when they're caught using AI. Some good ones include being a lawyer is hard, good advertising, and "I didn't mess up actually":

18 Lawyers Caught Using AI Explain Why They Did It
Lawyers blame IT, family emergencies, their own poor judgment, their assistants, illness, and more.

Spent many (many!) hours pulling legal explanations and apologies from lawyers who were caught using AI that hallucinated in which they explained to a judge why they used AI. The explanations are astonishing and extremely good:

New from 404 Media: deep-sea fishers can spend 10 months at sea, but they're not allowed to use the ship's Wi-Fi, meaning they can't talk to their families back home. Now they're fighting back for change.

Crazy story today: this group of distant water fishermen is fighting for Wi-Fi on their boats so they can talk to their families (or anyone else in the outside world) for the ten months a year they're out at sea.

I mean, it’s definitely local local local news…but it’s actually really interesting! And I’m having a hell of a good time covering it. So if you want to follow drama that has nothing to do with you, give it a read :) 5/5 read.thebostonguardian.com/the-boston-g...

This plan was dropped in people’s laps on Jan 8 with a public comment deadline of Feb 5. Over 230 people showed up to a routine call to ask why the city was “forcing” it through. And there was supposedly no communication about this in city govt. 4/ read.thebostonguardian.com/the-boston-g...

What’s also interesting is that this plan has been in the works for six years, with very different goals. But the guy who came up with this version of it was hired last September, after being ...let go?… by the previous mayor’s administration. 3/ www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/0...

“why should i give a damn?” Well, the plan would let developers build high-rise luxury towers in one of the city’s most historic districts, and there’s been no studies on how that would impact parks, tourism, historic structures, economics, etc etc. 2/ www.bostonplans.org/getattachmen...

I don't post much about this because it's a paper-first news org, but I've been covering some pretty drama-filled news for the Boston Guardian. e.g.:
The city is pausing a new zoning plan after getting over 500 letters of opposition. But it gets better. 1/
