The clocks fell back this weekend & I’m facing a winter of fighting my seasonal depression. Today was easy- I live by a sparkly sea that lifts my spirits & she was at her glittery best. Only 4 (long) months until we are on the better side of this…

Students Sabrina & Tedi created this microbial-inspired art for me, mostly made from discarded lab materials & coated in fluorescent paint that glows under UV, just like our microbes under the scope! So creative, inspired, & beautiful. I’m a very lucky person to have such joy & light in our lab! 🌊

A wonderful week at the AGU meeting in DC included 2 talks, a poster, lots of schmoozing, great food, thousands of steps, and fun with colleagues old and new. 30,000 Earth scientists in one town is pretty overwhelming but nerds really are the best. 🌊
