Trump supported pro-Russian political candidate Petro Poroshenko. With Rudy Guiliani, Trump said he would support Poroshenko in return for Poroshenko saying Ukraine was investigating Hunter Biden, which would make Joe Biden look bad and help Trump's chances of winning the election.
