Libraries matter now more than ever before. They embody the beautiful & brilliant idea that books are for EVERYONE; that knowledge belongs to everyone equally, regardless of wealth. We must never, ever stop defending our libraries from such attacks! #SaveLibraries

Authors, poets, illustrators and storytellers are happy to visit schools at any time of the year, not just on World Book Day (which is often fully booked months in advance). Celebrate reading on WBD and then arrange an author visit a few weeks later to build on it.

Question Time last night was pretty fierce. And had to be. There's a deliberate effort now to shift the ground: towards appeasement, inhumanity and authoritarianism. Once more, we must resist it. We must fight hard for kindness.

On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, everything that led to the Holocaust is in danger of being forgotten.
The Nazis channeled the demands of oligarchs, scapegoated minorities and replaced democracy with a new imperium. Those politics are returning.
