Here in central and southern Maine it’s Big Night season when amphibians migrate to breeding pools. Tonight we helped 15 peepers and 3 wood frogs cross the road. We were too late for 8 peepers and 2 wood frogs, but that’s not bad since there were 46 cars!

In case changing the clocks didn’t make it real, a red winged blackbird showed up today to announce spring is here. Pix through my window. Arrival date pretty consistent with the past several years, though seems early! Also what passes for spring here is pretty much late winter. #birds #mainebirds
