That was my experience, too. Until 3 years ago I was married to a man in software dev. I moved for his job more than once, and got my MLIS later (making me more educated than he was, but earning far less).

Now I’m on my own 😊 but I see this dynamic often.

Partners’ salaries should not “subsidize” roles that require an MLIS but, here we are.
