Birder in Somerset. Tern freak.
Down the hill in the owner's garden, I'm guessing. It's where we saw our Snowcaps. Fabulous place, lovely owner, great guides. #RanchoNaturalista

My bird of 2024? I would say no contest, but there were many other amazing birds in July in Papua New Guinea. This one was an unanimous bird of the trip, though: Flame Bowerbird! (Pic by David Spencer.)

30 years ago today! Bumped into @devonbirder.bsky.social at Minehead on 27 Nov 1994, who asked 'Do you need Grey-tailed Tattler?' Not half! (Everyone did.) Then up to Burghead on 30th with Paul Chapman, James McGill, and Alastair Stevenson. Blocker now. Photo by Alan Tate, I think?

A year ago today Paul C, Paul G and I arrived in Tasmania. About half of the Tassie endemics seen on our first day there, including plenty of the flightless Tasmanian Native-hen.
