Christian, enjoying the seas and skies and scenery of Norfolk.
Day 7 of my Sabbatical.

Two returns:

A return to the exercise classes, and

an annual return reflecting on the last year of ministry.

Both needed brainwork.

Both feed the sabbatical.

Day 6 of my sabbatical.

Reading Sam Wells’ ‘Speaking the Truth’.

Resting on my laurels, and reflecting.

Day 5 of my Sabbatical.

I reflected upon a recent event, and the effect it had on me. I fell for a scam. I trusted them and thought I was helping them. I felt foolish and dispirited. Thanks to God I was refilled spiritually, but the experience helped me to see how harmful lies are to our wellbeing.

Day 4 of my sabbatical.

Church this morning was the Radio service, with talk of Tyndale. We are all able to read the Bible for ourselves. We owe a lot to people of the past. The reading was that of the Samaritan woman. Jesus sat on Jacob’s well. The spring of living water is drawn from the deep.

Day 3 of my Sabbatical:

It was good to spend time with the family.

There was snow on and off all day, and a very chilly wind but this gave the sea and skies fantastic colours and movement: the wonders of creation are awesome.

Day 2 of my sabbatical.

A day of reflection.

I filled in the first part of my MDR form, thinking about the last 3 years in ministry.

Sad news arrived of an old friend who has died. I spent some time reflecting upon the past, on who he was and all we shared.

Day One of my sabbatical.

I took a virtual walk alongside the Thames in central London, following the Nazareth Community’s contemplative prayer walk from last Saturday.

I took a real walk taking in two of the churches in North Norfolk, taking the opportunity to pray in each.

The Holy Spirit of God shines into our hearts and souls when we invite Jesus into our lives and do our best to follow him.

Spirituality is not the pursuit of wealth or a means of controlling our destiny or our luck, our fortune, our physical health or our mood but a seeking of the meaning of life in accordance with the gifts from God, goodness and love: this leads us to truth - this is Spirituality.

If we keep our focus on God the spirit within us is empowered and uplifted, to work for the good - however much the darkness tries to encroach upon us.

I wonder what Jesus thinks of those who judge others and who won’t share bread with them?
