🛣️🚗 Labour is DOUBLING the amount of cash for roads including £700 million for the East Midlands.🚗 🛣️

Providing long-term investment and increasing the amount available to councils that publish their pothole data will save money on costly patchwork repairs and ensure councils are held accountable.

Today I met with Vice-Chancellor Jane Norman at the University of Nottingham to raise constituents concerns about proposed course closures.

I urged the Vice-Chancellor for there to be no compulsory redundancies this year or next.

I have been campaigning since I was elected for the Treasury to release the BCSSS investment reserve to their members. In today’s Budget, the Treasury announced they will do just that. Labour have delivered the fairness and justice all our mineworkers deserve.

The way councils are funded isn’t fair. Labour are reversing that injustice and delivering a fair funding system based on local needs, which has tackling deprivation at its heart.

I will be campaigning hard to make sure that funding is increased for our area.

Today is White Ribbon Day, also known as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Violence against women and girls is still far too common. We all have a role in ending violence against women and girls.

I have signed a joint letter with Nottinghamshire MPs to the University of Nottingham to ask them to reconsider proposed course suspensions and potential closures and to engage in meaningful consultation with staff and unions.

Fantastic news for commuters in Broxtowe!

For the first time since the ‘90s, Labour is freezing national rail fares. That will mean savings for people across the country.

E.g. someone travelling to work 3 days a week using flexi-season tickets from Nottingham to Derby will save £67.50 per year

Today is UN World Children's Day and I am proud to support President Zelenskyy’s initiative to Bring Kids Back UA, a global campaign calling for the safe return of Ukrainian children unlawfully taken to Russia. Over 20,000 Ukrainian children have been displaced by the war. #BringKidsBack

Absolutely brilliant to welcome Brinsley Primary & Nursery School to Parliament last week!

They enjoyed a full tour of Parliament and then put me through my paces with a fantastic Q&A session. Their questions about my work were so thoughtful and inspiring!

🌳 I am delighted to announce I have been appointed to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee!

🌱 ⭐ It was a real pleasure to open Springbank Academy's new nursery for two-year-olds, the Seedlings room.

This expansion is part of the first phase of the Government’s Best Start school-based nursery rollout, which funded 300 schools to create or expand nursery places.

Labour is investing £75 million to phase out animal testing faster.

With cutting-edge alternatives like 3D bioprinted tissues and devices that mimic human organ functions, we're backing researchers to deliver solutions that protect animal welfare.

Great news from Mayor Claire who has secured an additional £19 million of government funding to build more than 750 homes in the East Midlands. Great to see that brownfield land will be brought back into use to build the affordable housing people desperately need.
