Obvs it’s a bit decrepit on the outside and as a flat roof build it will have some moisture issues for sure, but the living room looks fine and you get a sauna!

In some cases through bureaucracy, perseverence and mistakes, you could end up with a legal-on-paper 280 SLC that was born a 240 D ambulance chassis, such as the one here. I love how the inspection papers still deadname it as a five door ambulance.

You would take an already registered, usually diesel-engined used Mercedes with all the necessary taxes paid ages ago, then perform magic to combine it with a second hand import coupe body but not exceed 49,9% swapped parts content. C123s were common, but there were also diesel SEC:s as a result.

These cars came with an airbag for both the driver and passenger. On the silver car you can see it still has the passenger airbag cover but the steering wheel has been replaced. Sure, the gearshift knob is tuning, but losing an airbag wheel definitely makes me suspect it’s been crashed once already.
